Minor Requirements
Students should choose one advisor from the “Advisory Committee” list. To fulfill the minor students must take from this list, a minimum of 18 credit hours. One of these courses must be UCS 30301 URGENT CHALLENGE SEMINAR:TT:SEMINAR IN ASIAN STUDIES (4 hours). For breadth, at least one course must be from the Asian history course list, and at least one course must be from the political science of Asia or international studies of Asia course lists. Study abroad and language coursework are encouraged but not required. Possible study abroad destinations include India, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan.

This team-taught interdisciplinary course is required for students in the minor program. This course will focus on two disciplines and two areas and is meant to introduce students to a variety of Asian cultures, histories, and politics.

Courses that count toward the minor are identified in individual course descriptions. Student’s program will be designed and approved in consultation with an advisor from the Committee to ensure they fulfill the requirements for the minor.

This list is not comprehensive and may change based on offerings. Students and advisors should review syllabi and consult with faculty from these courses to ensure that they cover an adequate amount of Asian Studies content, as content may vary from year to year.
