Withdrawal

Students who withdraw from Hiram College must complete a Voluntary Withdrawal Form found in Withdrawal Information.

If a student has not voluntarily withdrawn but is not in attendance, they will be administratively withdrawn. Should a student who was administratively withdrawn wish to return, they must complete the readmission process.

Additionally, students who earn an academic status of suspension will be administratively withdrawn. Students who request an exemption through the Academic Review Board and are approved will be administratively readmitted and their academic status updated to probation.

Readmission

All students who wish to return to Hiram College after having withdrawn must apply for readmission through the registrar's office. The readmission procedures must be completed prior to the beginning of the term for which the student has applied. Additional information about the readmission procedure can be found on the readmission page.

If the student is granted readmission, they will pay a deposit which will count toward their tuition. If they wish to live on campus, they will make a deposit for housing. After the student has deposited, Hiram College will reactivate their Hiram College account and send them their login information and temporary password.

In addition, the registrar's office will contact the following offices on campus after receiving the deposit:

  • Student Accounts
  • Registrar's Office
  • Financial Aid

The registrar's office will connect readmitted students with the appropriate academic advisor.

Hiram College reserves the right to deny readmission to any student for reasons including but not limited to outstanding financial obligations, academic deficiencies, college disciplinary actions, or convictions of criminal activity. Students will be informed in writing about the College’s readmission decision and may appeal a denial of readmission to the registrar's office. Appeals must be made in writing within three (3) business days of received denial to registrar@hiram.edu.

Students should also refer to other academic polices concerning requirements at time of readmission.
