Career planning is an important part of college, and the Career Center is here to support students in preparing for their futures. The office provides students with opportunities to develop lifelong skills of self-assessment working through the exploration process and overall career planning techniques. The Career Center website offers resources for career exploration, job searching techniques, as well as an online employment and internship database, Handshake.

The Career Center understands the importance of internships and the role they play in career planning.  Students will work with both their advisor and the Career Center to work through the internship process. At Hiram, we have had students intern with University Hospitals, the USDA Forest Service, and the Cleveland Guardians. Additionally, the Career Center will review and edit resumes, cover letters, conduct mock interviews, work with students in the on- and off-campus job searching process, as well as assisting with the graduate school application process. Employers recruit on campus for their internship positions, employment opportunities, and professional development experiences. The Hiram Career Center participates in multiple consortiums to provide our students and alumni access to employers through job and internship fairs throughout the region.
