Each year, financial resources are assessed to determine the level of funding necessary to provide a quality education for those attending Hiram. A substantial financial aid program is maintained to assist and encourage students of limited means. A sizeable amount of each student’s cost is borne by the College through the income from its productive endowment, accumulated through years of giving by alumni, trustees, and friends. Every effort will be made to operate within the fee schedule printed below, but the College retains the right to adjust fees when, in the judgment of the Board of Trustees, such action is necessary. The following charges are effective only for the 2022-2023 academic year.
Tuition and Fees
Students enrolled in an online program are charged by the credit hour. This rate is $315/credit hour.
Tuition covers the use of technology, admission to Hiram College events, and use of the library and physical education facilities. There are no additional fees for the use of such facilities as the student center, the pool, the gym, the library, or parking on the street.
Students who choose to audit a course must pay a $50 per credit hour fee plus the comprehensive fee and any fees applicable for the specific course. The student is subject to all the general College policies on withdrawal and refunds.
Bills are sent directly to the student’s permanent address. Requests to have bills sent to an address other than their permanent address or to another person must be made in writing to the registrar’s office. Bills reflect the term charges, pending financial aid and any payments made. Total payment for the term must be made or an installment payment plan arrangement completed prior to the due date for each semester.
Hiram College has an installment payment plan available. The Hiram payment plan allows for four payments each semester. There is an enrollment fee of $37.50/semester to participate. Enrollment in the payment plan is done through the eBill and information will be sent with the initial billing.
Tuition Deferment Plan
Some companies offer tuition assistance to employees who continue their education. Hiram College will permit students who receive reimbursement of education expenses from their employers to defer payment of their tuition until forty (40) days after the posting of semester grades. After this forty (40) day grace period, a late fee may be assessed. To defer tuition payment, students must complete a deferment form and submit it with the required service fee to the Student Financial Services Office by the bill date. Students must apply every semester they wish to participate in the deferment plan. The service fee is currently $50.00.
Financial aid is available to assist with tuition payment for those that qualify. Financial aid for online students is limited to federal and state need-based grants, as well as federal loans offered through the Federal Direct Loan Program. Students must be enrolled at least half-time each semester and meet the general federal aid eligibility requirements. How to apply and more information about the types of financial aid available can be found online at www.hiram.edu/sfs.
