SOCIAL SCIENCES RESEARCH METHODS:SM ~ This course provides a broad introduction to the research methods, analysis techniques, and writing style used in the social sciences. Topics include the scientific method, ethical consideration, measurement approaches, reliability and validity, designing a research study, and basic descriptive and inferential statistics. Students will engage in hands-on experience in how social scientists conduct research, with an emphasis on methods, computational analyses, and the interpretation of data for a scientific and a lay audience. This course fulfills the Scientific Methods (SM) core requirement.
